Bayview Pediatric Center
Computers for Interior Design
Spring 2021
Project Information:
The design of Bayview Pediatric Center should be a fun, yet relaxing environment designed for adolescents. Artwork should also be incorporated in hallways for users to enjoy. The layout should be functional for the space and allow for separation of the waiting areas, well and sick. Users may be in the waiting areas longer than in the examination rooms, so comfortability will be key. Fun graphics such as artwork should also be incorporated on the walls at the appropriate height for children in examination rooms to use as a distraction.
Design Statement:
The goal of Bayview Pediatric Center is to create a peaceful environment for patients during their visits. The doctor's office can lead to fear and anxiety which is the opposite of the calming atmosphere that is created in this design. Blues, greens, and earth tones are used throughout this design to ensure a calming atmosphere. Other factors such as the sustainability of materials and universal design are key to this project. Most materials are recyclable, biophilic, or Greenguard certified. The pediatric center is ADA-compliant with features such as lever-handled doors, 67" turn space for wheelchairs, accessible height counters, etc.
